I was born September 14, 1976 in Vero Beach Florida. Four years later, in a quiet corner of Jordan Hendry Awning Company, a legal pad and a ballpoint pen babysat me for the first time. A delightful confidence came out as I began to create.
Two and a half years later, a move to Montreat NC sparked an awakening inside me. My grandmother Nellie’s house was a treasure trove of imagination and wonder. At night, in the upstairs bedroom I perused old Richie Rich comics by lamplight. The breeze whispered through the old screen windows and I stayed warm under the weight of Nellie’s ancient blankets. Outside, the rush of Flat Creek amplified the warm and safe feelings I had inside. I was lulled to sleep time and again only to be woken by the aroma of fresh coffee, eggs, bacon and buttered toast. Days in Montreat were filled with excitement. I had at my fingertips the very essence of creativity and adventure.
After graduating from high school in 1994, I was accepted into the College of Design at North Carolina State University.
I am the Art Teacher for High Point Friends School in High Point North Carolina. l teach lessons and accept commissions on a regular basis.
